An Invitation to Join the Clent Connect Community

Clent Connect has always been about people. What started as a community shop and café has grown into something really special at the heart of the village – a place where people feel welcome, supported and part of something bigger.

At the centre of it all is our incredible team of volunteers. They are the friendly faces behind the counter, the ones making tea, sharing conversations, organising activities and quietly looking out for others. Their kindness, humour and generosity are what make Clent Connect what it is. Quite simply, we couldn’t do it without them!

Thanks to this amazing group, the Hub is now a thriving community space with something for everyone. Alongside the shop and café, we host a range of regular activities that bring people together and help tackle loneliness. Our Chatty Café continues to be a simple but powerful way for people to connect over a cuppa, while the jigsaw library has a permanent spot on Wednesdays.

We’re so proud of the practical support we offer. The free lifts to and from the Hub café help ensure that people who would otherwise be isolated can join us, and behind the scenes, our brilliant volunteer bakers keep our twice-weekly café hub stocked with delicious homemade treats. Let’s not forget the team of litter pickers who help keep Clent looking its best.

As we continue to grow, we’re looking for a few more volunteers to join us. Whether you can spare a couple of hours now and then or would like to get more regularly involved, there’s a place for you here. There’s no pressure to commit to regular shifts – you can simply sign up for times that work for you – and full training and support are always provided.

It’s not just volunteers we need – we’re also looking for new ways we can spread the word in the wider local community about the incredible things we’re doing here at Clent Connect. If you have links to your school PTA, are involved with a local WI, rotary, U3A or any other local community group, please reach out and let us know how we could collaborate. We have some exciting upcoming events, including our summer craft market in June, and a vitally important DKMS stem cell donor drive on 30th May, where we’ll be helping to register potential lifesavers in the fight against blood cancer.

If you’ve ever thought about getting involved, now is a wonderful time to do so. You’ll be joining a truly special group of people and helping us continue to grow something that means a great deal to so many.

To find out more, pop into the Hub for a chat or get in touch at huboffice@clentconnect.co.uk. We’d love to welcome you.
